Discovery
What items/services are provided by Maui Eco Tours on the trips? What items should be brought by guests? Can guests bring their own gear?
Whether it's your own snorkel gear, windbreaker, food for lunch or even your own life jacket, guests are welcome to bring whatever they would like. Any necessary gear that you don't have, Maui Eco Tours will provide for you. What about breakfast? Maui Eco Tours does not provide any breakfast service and thus recommends that guests have a light breakfast before the tour in the morning. It is important to remember that departure locations are NOT near any eating establishments and you should plan to have breakfast at either your hotel/condominium, or somewhere close to there before meeting for the tours. Can you bring a "regular" camera? This may be done at your own risk. In all reality, the opportunity to use a regular (non-waterproof) camera is extremely limited on our trips. If you'd like to snap photos on your kayaking trip, we highly recommend purchasing a disposable underwater camera, which can be easily attached to the kayak and kept ready for instant action all without the fear of losing or dropping a nice "regular camera". Is motion sickness a problem? Even on a calm day out on the ocean, motion sickness can be an issue. If you have ever been prone to motion sickness of any kind (air, car, sea, etc.), we strongly advise that you take adequate precautions on the day of your trip. Some good ways to ensure a fun day include using a product similar to Dramamine, not drinking alcohol the night before your trip and keeping caffeine consumption in the morning to an absolute minimum. What about bathrooms? No bathrooms are available at ANY of our departure locations. Please be sure to take care of this issue before joining the tour in the morning. What about the weather? Maui Eco Tours makes all go/no-go decisions with regard to weather. Maui is a tropical island and tours DO go out if it is raining, as it frequently passes right over after a brief shower. Please don't make the mistake of "looking outside your hotel/condo" and deciding you're not coming, because you WILL be charged the $25 per person no-show fee to cover our fixed costs. This point is especially important as many guests stay on West Maui (Kapalua, Ka'anapali, Lahaina) where it rains much more frequently than in the areas where the kayak trips depart from. In the event of a weather related cancellation, the decision to go out/not go out will be made on the morning of the trip, once all parties have arrived for a given trip. Should the trip be cancelled, no penalty fees will apply. Unless you hear from Maui Eco Tours the day before your trip, please always assume that no weather related concerns exist in relation to your trip and please proceed as normal to your departure location at the appropriate time.
