Kayak and Snorkel Heaven!

Xplorer is an intermediate level kayaking and snorkeling feast that's geared for those 16 years and older only. Xplorer runs year round, starting each day at 7:15am from Makena Landing. The departure point is just 10-15 minutes from Kihei and Wailea which means you'll be spending more time sleeping in on vacation! After gearing up and fitting, the Maui Eco Tours guides will take you through a comprehensive 15-20 minute briefing that covers everything from proper paddling techniques and snorkeling tips all the way to safety reminders and tips on getting in and out of your kayaks.

Depending upon how the guide runs the trip on that day, you'll either head down South for a longer paddling stretch to get going, or you'll head up North just a short ways to immediately jump in the warm, crystal clear waters to start snorkeling. The decision on which way to go will be based upon the guides analysis of the group and where other activities may be taking place. Maui Eco Tours' goal is always to provide a private and relaxing experience for their guests.

Upon arrival at each of the 3 snorkeling locations, the guide will hook all the kayaks together and safely drop an anchor in a sandy patch so that everyone may relax and get their mask and fins on. Everyone who wants to, gets in the water and is free to snorkel on their own. That said, the most fun will be had if you stay close to the guide in the water, as they will be pointing out unique marine life, snapping underwater digital photos, and leading the way to the best regions along each reef. On Xplorer, it's not uncommon to see tons of turtles, eels, octopus, a plethora of colorful tropical reef fish, and even the occasional white tip shark.

A complimentary beach lunch ends the perfect five star kayaking and snorkeling adventure!

Signature Lunch Includes: Vinaigrette seasoned and baked all white meat chicken on a skewer. Hawaiian fresh fruit medley, selectively placed on a kabob.

All food is delicately and individually packed for freshness and ease of consumption.

 

Lunch selections are subject to change without notice. In addition, the portions are on the smaller side and it is highly recommended that guests with a large appetite bring additional rations and/or make other arrangements.

What does Intermediate mean?

Intermediate really mean that this trip is "adult oriented". Compared with Maui Eco Tours Beginner Level trips, this adventure adds on an additional snorkeling location, which of course means a slightly longer paddling distance as well as a longer overall trip length. With that in mind, this trip is best suited to participants who are ages 12 and over only.

From West Maui (Kapalua, Ka'anapali & Lahaina): (Travel time approximately 1 hour) Take Highway 30 to the intersection with North Kihei Road (Highway 31). Proceed South to the end of Highway 31, which terminates at a stoplight in Wailea. Go left at the stoplight onto Wailea Alanui Road. Proceed 2.5 miles south and turn right at the blue sign that says Makena Landing. Proceed to the bottom of the hill and park anywhere. Look for the Maui Eco Tour guides with blue polo shirts and the white van and blue kayaks!

From South Maui (Kihei and Wailea): (Travel time approximately 10 minutes) Proceed south on either Highway 31 (inland) or South Kihei Road (oceanside). You'll run into the stoplight in Wailea that is in front of the "Shops at Wailea." Go South on Wailea Alanui Road. Proceed 2.5 miles and turn right at the blue sign that says Makena Landing. Proceed to the bottom of the hill and park anywhere. Look for the Maui Eco Tours guides with blue polo shirts and the white van and blue kayaks!

Guests should meet at this address 15 minutes prior to departure.

This tour must be booked at least 48 hours in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12- 24 hours subject to availability.

Cancellation and No Show Policy:

There is no charge for cancellations prior to 48 hours before the tour departure date. Tours canceled within 48 hours of the departure date and no-shows will be subject to a $25 fee to cover fixed costs.

Recommended for all Maui Eco Tours: Bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, visors, sunglasses, water shoes or sandals that fasten, underwater camera, extra food/snacks.

Weather: Tour route or activity may be changed depending on local weather conditions.
